REED HANKS, DVM, OWNER
Dr. Reed Hanks was raised on a ranch in Deer Trail, CO. He graduated from Deer Trail High School and enrolled at Colorado State University. Dr. Hanks attained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in 1988 and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Dr. Hanks joined the Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in 1992. After practicing on the corridor for 23 years, Dr. Hanks and his wife, Tonya, purchased the practice in July of 2015. Dr. Hanks manages the clinic and continues to practice full time. Reed has been around animals his entire life and enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine. Dr. Hanks is very experienced with cattle, horses, dogs, and cats. He enjoys surgery and the diversity that comes with working in a rural setting. Reed and Tonya have two grown children, Roice and Kaitlyn. Both are college students and help out at the clinic and on the ranch when they are home. In his spare time, Reed enjoys spending time at his ranch, hanging out with his 2 dogs, and watching sports. He has always enjoyed woodworking, welding, and loves to build things.
JODIE VETTER, DVM
Dr. Jodie Vetter is a 2002 graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Jodie has worked as a veterinarian on the eastern I-70 corridor since 2004. She began working for Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in 2007. Dr. Vetter lives in Bennett with her husband Greg, son David and daughter Anna. She and her family spend much of their spare time devoted to the 4-H and livestock show lifestyle they love! They also enjoy spending quality time at home with their many animals including horses, dogs, and cats.
LUISA TAYLOR, DVM
Dr. Luisa Taylor joined Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in July of 2014. Originally from the Chama Valley in northern New Mexico, she moved to Colorado in 2005 to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (2009) and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2013), both from Colorado State University. After graduation, Dr. Luisa completed a one-year internship in Livestock Medicine and Surgery at CSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Along with her interest in livestock health management, Luisa’s other professional interests include small animal emergency medicine and surgery. In her free time, Dr. Luisa enjoys any outdoor activity with her husband, two young children, and their dogs Dante and Tommy.
ANNA JENSEN, DVM
Dr. Anna Jensen grew up in the mountains of Steamboat Springs, CO. Her interest in veterinary medicine sparked at a young age and she spent her spare time helping in veterinary clinics and competing in barrel racing throughout high school and college. Anna completed her undergraduate degree in Zoology while traveling with the CSU Rodeo Team and working as a veterinary technician. She was accepted to CSU’s veterinary school and graduated with her doctorate in May 2019. During her clinical rotations Dr. Anna completed an externship at Strasburg Veterinary Clinic and fell in love with the practice; she joined the team in June 2019. Anna enjoys working with all animals but has a particular interest in all things Equine. In her spare time Anna enjoys snowboarding, horseback riding, traveling and seeing live music.
SHIREEN ZOLGHADRI, DVM
Dr. Shireen Zolghadri, “Dr. Z”, was born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. She grew up barrel racing and riding horses at her grandparents’ farm. She attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences. While there she worked at mixed animal clinic and cheered the Dawgs on at as many football games as possible.
For veterinary school, she moved with her horse Sammy to Fort Collins, Colorado to pursue her passion at Colorado State University. Throughout her four years she was actively involved in many clubs including Treasurer of the Student Chapter of AAEP (SCAAEP) and Marketing Director of the Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA).
Last year, she spent the year working at an equine exclusive referral practice, Piedmont Equine Practice in northern Virginia. She got extensive training at a practice that specialized in sport’s medicine, emergency/critical care, surgery, and general wellness. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and doing outdoor activities including: horseback riding, hiking, running, and snowboarding.
ALISON BUSH, DVM
Dr. Ali Bush grew up in Connecticut, where her passion for animals and veterinary medicine developed at a young age while volunteering at the local animal hospital. She received her Bachelors of Science degrees in Pathobiology and Animal Science from the University of Connecticut, and is a recent veterinary graduate from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She enjoys working with all livestock and horses, as well as dogs and cats. Dr. Ali is Beef Quality Assurance certified, and received additional education in alpaca and llama medicine from the North American Camelid Studies Program. In addition, Dr. Ali is passionate about international veterinary medicine, and has worked in South Africa, Italy, Peru, and Mexico exploring the field. When she’s not at work, Dr. Ali spends her time with her boyfriend and their two rescue dogs, Trixie and Corazón. She enjoys fishing, snowboarding, and traveling.
RENE KAGEN, CVT
Rene graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 1996 and has been with Strasburg Veterinary Clinic since 2003. Rene has a very special ability to care for neonatal patients and dog behavior. She loves her job with Strasburg Vet Clinic and feels fortunate to work with people that are more than just co-workers, they are her second family. Her many years of experience are invaluable. Rene is a mom and a grandma. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and her many animals.
LINDSEY ERKER, CVT
Lindsey attended Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology where she graduated with her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2004. She completed her internship and joined Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in 2004. Lindsey grew up in Kiowa, and still lives there today with her three wonderful children and her four-legged critters! When not working she enjoys spending time with her family doing outdoor activities and caring for her livestock and horses.
BETH WEISENSEE, CVT
Beth completed her Veterinary Technician training at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington in 2008 followed by an internship, then employment with Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in 2009. She is a Colorado native and grew up on a farm and ranch near Deer Trail. She loves working in this rural community and appreciates the variety that comes with working in a mixed animal practice. When not working, she enjoys nature photography. Beth likes to travel and go hiking as well as spend time with her family, especially her three nieces. She appreciates working with all species of animals, but livestock is her favorite! Beth enjoys her own small herd of cows as well as helping her family raise wheat, cattle, and sheep.
SYDNEY PISTRUI, CVT
Sydney has been with Strasburg Veterinary Clinic since May of 2015. She was born and raised in Maryland and moved to Colorado in 2011. She is a graduate of Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. Sydney enjoys riding horses and spending time with her 4-legged children (Spirit, Skye, Sage, Stretch and Squirt) and her husband Steve.
KENDRA CULLISON, CVT
Kendra is a Colorado Native born and raised on the Eastern plains. Kendra grew up on her grandparent’s farm in Weldona where she helped with planting crops and raising livestock. Kendra graduated with her Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2017 after completing her internship at Strasburg Veterinary Clinic. Kendra began working for the clinic immediately after graduation. Kendra raises pigs, chickens, and cattle along with her 4 goats, dogs, and cats. In addition to farming and ranching, Kendra enjoys fishing and playing sports in her spare time.
Megan was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. Megan graduated from Community College of Denver in 2016 with her Veterinary Technician Certificate. She has always loved helping animals big and small. Megan enjoys being outdoors, watching sports and hanging out at home. She loves spending time with her two dogs and six cats.
Aggie is a Colorado Native. She graduated from Pickens Technical College with her Veterinary Assistant Certificate while she was a sophomore at Vista PEAK Preparatory. She then completed her internship at Strasburg Veterinary Clinic. Following her internship, Aggie started working part time at Strasburg Veterinary Clinic. After graduation, Aggie began working on her Associate of Science degree at the Community College of Aurora. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her horse, G, and her two dogs and three cats.
BETTY FRIEND, CVT
Betty has been with Strasburg Veterinary Clinic for many years. After retiring from Gates Rubber, Betty began a second career as a veterinary technician. She worked at Strasburg Veterinary Clinic from 2004 to 2014, and then returned to us in 2015. A Colorado native, Betty loves working with all types of animals. She provides foster service for many dogs while they wait to find a home and has adopted many older displaced animals.

Tracy is a Colorado native. She joined Strasburg Veterinary Clinic in 2006. Tracy has a contagious smile and makes everyone feel comfortable when they arrive at our clinic. She enjoys spending time with her family & friends, caring for her animals, and collecting antiques.
Mackenzie joined Strasburg Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist in August of 2014. Born in Rota, Spain, Mackenzie moved to Bennett in 2000. She is a 2014 Bennett High School graduate and completed her Associates Degree through Morgan Community College in May of 2015. When not at work, Mackenzie loves to do anything that will get her outside-camping, riding horses, or riding four-wheelers. She also enjoys going to the movies with family and friends.
Niki has been with the Strasburg Veterinary Clinic since she began as a volunteer technician while in high school. A native of Byers, Niki grew up helping her grandparents and parents raise greyhounds at Brumage Kennels. After graduating from Byers High School, Niki took a brief leave of absence to earn her Associates of Applied Science and start a family. Niki returned to work at the clinic as a receptionist in September of 2014. A very busy mom of three, Niki also takes care of 4 dogs, a herd of goats, and a few cows.
